ARMY ‘Stories’
Sean Izzard and Christopher Ireland collaborate with Havas Sydney creatives to humanise the perception of the Australian Defense Force in an encompassing brand campaign. The holistic and interactive ‘mobile-first’ campaign aims to highlight the Australian Army’s status as one of the most people-focused and progressive armies in the world.
Acclaimed for their ability to uncover personal stories through portraiture, Izzard and Ireland worked together to reveal the personality and depth of ADF personnel – the people underneath the uniforms. The content Izzard and Ireland produced, which spanning across several formats and platforms, was a mainstay of the fully integrated 360 campaign, the largest in Defense Force Recruitment history.

“The Army gave us the challenge, and unprecedented access, to show the Army in a way it has never been portrayed before. Our approach was mobile and digital first, which relies on deep, engaging content. We could not have achieved the quality of content across all media, without the innovative approach that POOL created for us – two incredibly talented and passionate content creators in Sean Izzard and Chris Ireland, collaborating seamlessly on a huge, highly pressured 7 day shoot, across stills, film, and everything in-between. It was like a sort of ballet, where the ballerinas were ugly, but the results were beautiful.”- Seamus Higgins, joint ECD, Havas Sydney,
