We were recently invited by I-Manifest and Heckler to take part in a special creative workshop as part of the official Vivid Ideas program.
I-Manifest is an organisation that empowers disadvantaged and rural teenagers by exposing them to a realistic future in creative industries.
The Pool artists were proud to lead the photography workshop, working with 40 great kids for the day to help them produce their own unique portraits.
The students were split into two groups, each getting a chance to shoot a portrait and a textural image that they felt represents them or reflects an emotion. The images were then merged together to create a unique self portrait series which will be projected on Sydney University as part of the Vivid Ideas festival.
Thank you to the Pool artists Sean Izzard, Simon Harsent, Juliet Taylor and Danny Eastwood, as well as our favourite ‘mad scientist’ Steven Popovich for supporting this project.
We would also like to thank I-Manifest and Heckler for inviting us to be a part of this great initiative, and to Canon for providing the students with cameras for the day.
The students self-portraits will be projected onto the Quandrangle building at Sydney University on the 2 June – 3 June from 7.30pm – 8.00pm.
